I made this piece as part of Remembrance Day, 2021, I wanted to celebrate and honor my Granddad’s efforts in WW2. Reading his flight book, and discovering the planes he flew in and the missions he was on, truly made me realize how lucky he was to survive and how brave they all were.
The majority of textures in the work are collected from his belongings, such as the textures from the sleeve of his flight books, written notes about missions, his medals, and even his birth certificate.
