Abandoned shield

In a long forgotten future human civilization needed to build immense structures, using geo-engineering, each of these structures had a particular purpose. Some held solar radiation, others formed protective shields around cities to contain radiation caused by accidents at atomic power plants. They were autonomous structures that did not need human operation.
